Evergreen Afterschool is a child care facility licensed by the Tennessee Department of Human Services. It is located in the Hiltpold Gymnasium at Evergreen Presbyterian Church. It is designed to serve both as an outreach to the community and a service to the Evergreen Presbyterian church membership. The staff of the afterschool ministry strives to provide a safe, Christian environment with wholesome activities and sound leadership for school-age children. The children take part in a variety of fun, safe, organized activities conducted by our church staff, adult and college-aged volunteers (through the Kinney program at Rhodes College) and our D.H.S. trained college-aged Afterschool staff. Activities include board games, basketball, soccer, playground, puzzles, shooting pool and tutoring by Rhodes students. Monday - Friday, 2:15pm - 6pm, concurrent with the Memphis City School calendar.
If the City Schools are closed - Evergreen is closed. When Memphis City Schools have a half day or close early (snow and heat days ) - Evergreen is closed.
Fees
$35.00 per child, per week
$30.00 per sibling, per week
No per day rate available
After 6:05pm, parents are charged a $1 per minute late fee until the child is picked up.
Fees are to be paid on the first of each month for the month ahead. If another payment plan is needed please speak with the Recreation Director. There is a charge of $35.00 for returned checks, and a $10.00 late payment fee.
The Star-Quality Child Care Program is a voluntary program from the State of Tennessee's child care agency that recognizes child care facilities which meet quality criteria to receive a one, two or three star license. DHS provides an Internet list of child care agencies that gives important information about the agency, including the Star-Quality Rating.
